Have you been thinking about doing some remodeling to your home lately? Have you been looking at new windows? If so, here are five signs you may need new windows.
Drafts and Increased Energy Bills
Have you ever noticed drafts coming in around your windows during the winter months? Drafts are a sure sign your windows are not doing their job. Have you ever noticed your energy bills getting higher and higher? Having windows that do not seal properly can lead to drafts coming into your home. Poor windows can cause your furnace or air conditioning to work overtime in order to keep your home at a comfortable temperature.
Single Pane Windows
Do your current windows only have one piece of glass? If so, it’s time to replace them. Single pane windows do not have a sealed layer of argon or krypton gas to help defuse the transfer of temperatures. Additionally, single-pane windows do not have a layer of Low-E. Low-E helps reduce the energy coming and leaving the house.
Rotten or Damaged Windows
If there is clear and evident rot or damage on your window, it is time to replace them. Not only will they look better, but you won’t have to worry about bugs or water coming into your home. If you decide to go with vinyl windows, you won’t have to worry about the windows rotting.
Moisture Between the Panes
Moisture between the panes is a sure sign of a seal failure. Once the seal is gone, argon or krypton gas that was once present has escaped and it no longer provides that layer of protection.
Live near a noisy road or have loud neighbors? New windows can help stop the sound from coming into your home. Sound control glass is also a great option to give even more control over the sound coming in.
